What fight choreography does in theater.

Fight choreography and dance choreography both tell stories through the body. But they are not interchangeable disciplines.

Rehearsal asks so much of us. It asks us to be available, flexible, focused, vulnerable, patient, and precise—often all at the same time. It asks us to try things before we fully understand them, to receive notes without collapsing, to repeat something until it becomes honest, and to stay open even when we feel tired, uncertain, or exposed.

Dance rehearsal vs. theater rehearsal: Coming from a dance background, I am always fascinated by the different rhythms of rehearsal rooms.
